Community Notice | Friday, January 23, 2026

On Friday, January 23, 2026, communities across Minnesota are observing an “ICE Out” general strike. This is a collective refusal to accept fear, family separation, and state violence as normal. It reflects a growing demand for dignity, safety, and justice for immigrant communities and for the removal of ICE from Minneapolis altogether.

Let us be clear. ICE has no place in our city. Minneapolis is a place of community, not occupation. Surveillance, intimidation, and racialized enforcement harm families, traumatize children, and destabilize neighborhoods. Calls for abolition come from a long tradition of challenging unjust systems wherever they appear.

Reed & Ember will remain open and continue providing essential mental health services on January 23. Care is also resistance. Healing is also protection. Our doors stay open because our community deserves support, especially in moments of collective stress, fear, and mobilization.

We stand in solidarity with the spirit of the strike and with all who are taking courageous action in defense of human dignity. If recent events or this broader moment are weighing on you or your family, we encourage you to bring that into your sessions. You do not have to carry it alone.

We remain committed to care, to truth, and to community.
